When would you take your child on a chair-lift ride over a river?
"Going Down?"

My son's just turned four and keeps asking wistfully when he can take the chair-lift with me. We live in a small city with a natural mountain gorge and running river in the centre, it's a real beautiful spot and we go there at least once a week. Unique landscape. It has a chair-lift like I suppose you see at ski places, where you sit in the little chair and it is carried across the river on a steel cable. People are on it all the time. There are no restraints or belts, just narrow little wooden seats and it is quite high, I guess maybe twenty or thirty metres above the ground at its highest. At what age would you consider taking your child across? Thanks for your opinion.

Funny thing, you are afraid and he's not. If he says he's ready then take him. You do need to go over the rules (repeatedly) with him and make him understand that if he doesn't like it there is no turning back. Also safety stuff he should know. If he can remember and repeat everything back to you and still seems confident go for it! Either he will be fine or he won't bother asking for quite a while.

Looking for the manufacturers name or even the "style" name for a living room \ den chair my parents had.?
Travelling into the mist

This is not an office chair, it was a deep seating reclining chair with a separate footstool. I believe they bought it in the '50's in the eastern US. The chair had a wood frame with wooden arms and slats running from the arms to the base. The entire one-piece seat and back was upholstered in vinyl and lifted out of the base. The rear of the base had adjustments so you could angle the seat. The footstool top lifted off reveling a storage compartment.

Sounds like a "Morris" chair to me, too. I'm making two of them now. They date back about 100 years to the "Craftsman" or "Arts & Crafts" movement.

Ski lift fog

so my friend showed me this... u put a chair against a wall, bend straight forward till the top of your head is against the wall (your back horizontal) then lift the chair (from the seat) straight up about 3 inches then stand straight up while still holding the chair. men cant do it but woman can... why is that?
no im not trying to get people to do stupid things i honestly want to know why men cant physically do this and woman can. what makes the difference?
sorry i dont record these things... honestly this is just a question on the human body. i dont want disbelief, just answers.
found a video on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRixqIAsX a0&feature=related

Women have lesser body mass in their upper bodies thusly they have a lower Center of Gravity and are not affected by the weight differential when they pick up the chair, Men having the greater portion of their mass in their upper bodies are pulled toward the wall when they pick up the chair and cannot attain a standing position without seriously straining their back muscles or cheating by leaning back a little bit.

Sleepover game where you lift someone sitting in a chair easily after placing your hands above them.?
Delight

So, I know this sounds crazy, but I was with a group of friends {we're all over 18] and we were messign around playing little kid sleepover games. Ya'know light as a feather, stiff as a board, sandman, there's a knife in your back, ones that are supposed to make scratches happen, ect.

Then a friend suggested one I had never heard of before. You need atleast 5 people. One person sits in a chair and the others stand around them. They each grab a limb then try to pick up the seated person. Usually it's hard. Then they all put one hand above the person's head clockwise and layer the other hand over the first and pull them all away in the reverse order. After you do that you lift them up the same way as before and they become unexpectedly light.
I know it sounds crazy, but it worked several times. We even lifted a really heavy guy with four small girls.
Is there a name associated with this "game"?
And does anyone know why in the world it works?!

I can appreciate serious answers. Thanks.

Wow, I've never heard of this one before so I can't tell you what the name is.

Here is my theory on how it might work. Everyone is surrounded by a magnetic field, an aura. By placing your hands on their head in clockwise order and then pulling them pulling them away, you are reversing the magnetic field that surrounds them. This would effect how their field is connected to the field that surrounds the earth.

Again this is my theory based on metaphysical practices.
