I'm usually spending time on the computer, and I thought it would be more resourceful of my time if I exercise while working at the computer. How do I lift weights properly in a chair?


If your goal is to build muscle 5 pounds is not going to help you much but really just sit with your back straight and lift the dumbbell to your chest. Hold for 1 seconds than slowly let it back down. Start with the dumbell hanging down at your sad with your palm facing toward your body. As you bring the weight up you want to turn your hand so that your palm will face your chest once you lift the dumbell up that far.

During weightlifting exercise, why can you not lift as much weight while using a stability ball?

As opposed to, say, using a bench during a chest press or an upright chair during shoulder presses.


you can't do as much weight since you are required to use more stability muscle groups in order to do the same exercise...

since these smaller muscle groups (deep within larger muscle groups--or in between muscle groups) don't get used often--they aren't used to the weight--hence, you would have to compensate by using lighter weights

using the stability ball is a great way to change up your routines--and boost additional muscle growth

you'll see that if you do chest presses on the stability ball using dumbells for a while, and you go back to the bench press--you'll be able to bench more and have better stability while you lift

How do I do sets when I'm weight lifting and such??

This is my routine, but how can i convert them to sets??

50 sit ups
50 wall push ups
50 chair dips
40 sit ups with 15lb weight
40 squats with 15lb weight
20 15lbs weight on my back pulling up and down with both arms
15mins of arm weight lifting


You only need sets when you're strength training. Those are all toning exercises.

can i lift weights at 14 years old?

i want to know if i could sit down on a chair and lift 10 pound dumbells (weights) and it will not effect my growth. if it will then what wont effect my growth but still will give me some muscle i do push ups but they arent as effective as weights. by the way if needed im 14 years old and i weigh 110 pounds and im 5 foot 2 inches. thanx in advance.

My back hurts, am I still able to lift weights?

So yeah my back has been hurting a little when I bend it at an angle. I'm not like bending it really far back. I've been cracking my back a lot, by twisting my body to the left and right and by bending my back backwards while I'm sitting in a chair. Should I still be lifting weights? I haven't lifted for almost a week and my back is still hurting a little. I feel weaker so I need to start lifting again. Also does cracking your back stunt your growth?


You probably just sprained your back, you have to take a couple week off untill it gets better. And as far as I know, cracking your back dosent stunt your growth. The world would be much shorter if that was true!
