Shower Lift

Winter weather cause showers to open hot water valve/ the knob to lift and allow water to flow? We recently were gone from our summer place and it was discovered that the shower was running. We were told it had to be turned off. I have several sources saying it never happens and one who says he has seen it before. I am really looking for answers - too many conflicting ideas and stories. help me please

if this were to happen water should trikle out and any more than that would be fowl play.

If you know how to fix it, that'd be great. If anyone has an idea of what to check, etc. that'd be helpful, too.

Thanks, Stuart, for the quick reply. I got super excited that it would be easy, but I realized there was one complication:

I should have mentioned the faucet is attached to the shower lining (is it called a lining?). I was hoping it was just a bead of silicon, but it looks to me like it's attached.

There might be some sealant around the base of the faucet where it is against the tile or shower liner, Try using a utility knife to score around the base of the faucet before turning it loose, it should break loose once you turn the faucet. You may need to use a large monkey wrench to get a good grip on it.

Make sure you take the old one in when you buy the replacement so you get one that fits right.

Lift doors off track.. steel wool (clean lower part of door.).. clean out the track and make sure its wide enough...Some doors have rollers, ck to see, if so free them up.. Reinstall.. That should do it..I've done this once or twice.. Did tile work and this is common..Your friend from Tennessee...ROB

If the drywall starts to warp then you have to replace it. But first you have to understand why it does it. Maybe it is too humid in there and you don't have proper ventilation in the bathroom. If that is the case you have to solve that first

Ok. I lift weights just like you. Taking a shower doesnt affect anything. I do exactly what you do, i lift some weights and then take a shower, thats what your meant to do. After you lift weights you feel sweaty so its good to take a shower after lifting weights i do the same thing.
