Standard Bed Frame

I am wanting to but a bed frame from ikea but noticed that they do not come in standard sizes, i.e. they have a 5.3 ft frame rather than 5 ft standard, but I dont want to buy an Ikea mattress. Can I use standard mattresses in Ikea frames? if so do you know what sizes corrospond?

My existing King frame was a fairly costly investment.
It's a wood frame

What kind of frame? If it was costly, then presumably it isn't the standard metal folding frame which wouldn't need more than the turn of a screw.

Is it wood? Is it antique iron? Is it one piece or several? etc. etc. Anyway, just look at it and figure it out, or give more info.

I am planning to buy a queen bed but I don't want to buy an IKEA mattress. But from IKEA website I found that their queen bed frames fit mattresses of only 79-1/2" in length while standard mattresses are usually 80" in length.

I have one and it fits mine.

Has anyone made some kind of bracket to mount a waterbed headboard to a regular bed frame? We are getting rid of the waterbed to go to a regular mattress, but like the headboard and would like to keep using it. But I need to find or make a bracket to mount the headboard to the standard frame. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

There are lots of different "L" brackets in the hardware store.. And attaching the headboard to the wall behind the headboard would be a good way to do it. But remember most waterbeds are Taller than most regular bed frames, so they will not match-up. But the best way to reuse a waterbed headboard is to put your matress into the actual frame for the waterbed. You can, but you dont have to use a box spring for this application. You can just place the matress itsself into the whole reserved for the waterbed matress.

I recently stained and finished a headboard plank and and now need to know what hardware to use. The wood I purchased from someone online did not come with instructions or hardware, but it did come with starter holes already pre-drilled for the screwing. I just need to know what is the best hardware for a secure assembly.

1. Attaching the headboard to 2 wood boards to serve as feet for attaching the the metal frame. The 2 wood boards have starter holes that match the headboard starter holes already. I just don't know what screws to use.
2. Attaching wood foot boards to a metal bed frame. I am not sure what type of bolting system I should buy from the hardware store.

1/4"-20 carriage bolts with washers and wing nuts are the easiest way to attach them. That's what usually comes with the headboards. Hope this helps.
