Slats Bed Frame

I currently have a Tempurpedic mattress and I love it! I have it on one of thier foundations sitting directly on the floor.
I like the look of Ikea bed frames. The Ikea bed frames don't use a box spring or foundation and the mattress lies directly on slats.
Is it okay to put the Tempurpedic mattress directly on the slats without the foundation?

you should look into this and take measurements, because I have heard that only Ikea mattresses fit in Ikea beds and that is how they get you. If you buy a bed from them you end up having to buy the mattress also because they are not standard sizes. So I would look into this before making a big purchase.

My husband and I just bought a new headboard/footboard/with side rails.. My only question is:
In the photo, and at the store where I bought it (Ashley's) they show it with a bedskirt, but for the life of me I can't figure out how this is possible!
The whole bed is made of wood with three wooden slats (the new frame) that run across it. Seems impossible for me to put on a bed skirt.. I would think it was impossible if I hadn't see the photo's online and see the bed in the store!

Anyone have any ideas or know what I'm talking about? lol

The bed skirt usually goes over the boxsprings and under the mattress but from the picture, it won't work. They may have used velcro or a staple gun and placed it around the edge of the bed below the slats. Had to cut the center or the part you put over the box springs out.

I have a normal bed frame at my new apartment, but I have the wooden slats from Ikea. I was wondering if I could put those on the bedframe, so I don't have to bring the box spring. Has anyone tried this?

I build euro platform bed frames. My design replaces the box spring with a number of slats. As long as you don't have any gaps larger than about 6" it works great. For a full bed, I use 14 ea. 4x1.25" poplar slats. I try to keep my gaps around 3". The main concern is providing sufficient support to prevent sagging. With queen and large, I run a center support rail under the slats to help carry the weight. The only thing I see happening with a metal bed frame is if it has a center steel support, It may make the mattress a bit to firm.

I have this futon mattress that i really like to sleep on, except that I wake up with back ache. I put it on a box spring frame, and I wonder if it's because the box spring is a little old and somehow out of shape, or if it's because I'd rather have a slatted bed base...

So you took the futon mattress and stuck it on the base to a spring mattress?

Futon mattresses were not made to be slept on every night. The whole purpose of a futon is to use it as a cheap couch that also serves as a fold out guest bed.

I have a sleigh bed with a slatted wooden frame. I need a new mattress and would like one of the memory foam, pocket sprung types. Is it a suitable mattress for this type of frame?

You can use a mattress of any kind with a sleigh bed, however no mattress (innerspring or memory foam) can be placed directly onto the slats, there isn't enough support. You'll need to either use the boxspring/foundations or purcahse what's called a bunkie board in place of the boxspring.
