We have a king sized mattress and are considering purchasing a California king frame from our grandfather. Will the mattress fit on the frame?
A standard king is 76 inches wide by 80 inches long
A California king is 72 inches wide by 84 inches long
The length would be fine but width will not fit
You can always put a waterbed mattress back in it

Im looking for suggestions on bringing a king sized mattress (besides u-haul and strapping in onto the top of the car) from southern california to vegas, preferrably a very cheap way, if this is possible.
We are moving my relative's stuff in order for him to move in with his my aunt in vegas.

I found a good bed to buy online but it is King and we have all CalKing sheets. I don't want to replace my entire bedding because of this mattress set. Does anyone know if the (especially fitted) sheets will fit?
no the bottom sheet will be 1/2 foot too short ... on each side...width wise....but, u know a lot of brands sheets run big... so u could try...if they r given to you or something.... but, don't buy them...big chance they wont work... top sheet will ....

not including the box spring mattress or frame. just the mattress. i'm looking to buy one, or at least put one on layaway cause i'm moving into an apartment soon with my fiance and we are both bed hogs. so we want the biggest bed we can get.
Costco has good king-sized mattresses from about $600...but if you want to get something REALLY nice try the Sleep-number bed from Select Comfort(sp?) ... Those will run you in the thousands-of-dollars range.
Keep in mind a mattress can be an investment in the end; a really good mattress (i.e. the sleep number) should and will last you 20 years.
