As oppose to buying the box spring & mattress ? what benefit does a box spring really give?

With a platform bed all you use is the matress. The "platform" part works as the box spring.

The Box Spring helps cerculate air in and around the matress so mites and other "yuck" can't grow.

I am buying a new bed for my new apartment and was wondering if it matters whether or not I buy a name brand from a store or would it be alright to buy a lower priced one on a random website. I am particularly looking for a Queen Euro top mattress set for under $600. Thanks for everyone's answers in advance.

i agree with the 2 other answers in which the brand name is trusted so therefore you will be less likely to be confronted with issues down the road.

Take my advice and don't buy any cheap set from a random site.

I work for mattress firm and we have a value center of sealy promotional mattresses...16 queen sets under 699. There are also clearance centers (beds that were in a home for 30 days, then exchanged, and sanitized and sold at less the half the price.) the stores are nationwide.

If you don't want to go that route, check out the sealy and Simmons websites. Simmons also makes a promotional line with the same coil technology, the bed just has less coils. Google "simmons studio line" when you get the chance. Those are typically less than 500.

Hi friends, Recently we did lot of research on mattresses. Finally we liked two mattresses,one from costco which is king sealy postuerpedic by sterlingshire firm ($949).Other one is from macys which is simmons beautyrest vanderbuilt collection adrian firm ($1000).We are very confused.Both mattresses have nearby same amount of coils (sealy--986 and simmons-1024)So my question is, which one is better for the long run? simmons beautyrest or sealy? If anybody expert there please help. Thanks.

your mattress, can help you sleep better, you feel better with a better mattress,
i would really recommend sealy .

My husband and I have had a pillowtop mattess for almost 3 years now. When we got it, it never caused any back pain and now, we wake up every morning with back pain.

So, the real question is, how can we make our mattress stop hurting our backs without actually buying a new mattress?

Sounds like this could have been my question! ~same situation. I bought a 3" memory foam and it has made a HUGE difference. Got it off overstock.com. Can't remember exactly what I paid, but I'm thinking around $70 (?). It's ugly, but the mattress pad, fitted sheet are over it. So who cares?? Feels great.
