Bed King Mattress Water

last week we decided to take it down (leak again) and sleep in a regular full-sized bed. We are so sleep-deprived-2 people can ACTUALLY get some rest on those things? I ordered another water bed mattress. Any other water bed addicts in Senior Land?

We've had our water bed for probably 25 years. I would never sleep on anything else! It is so nice and warm to crawl into in the winter, and with the heater turned down, it's cool in the summer. So cozy! When we went to my in-laws a few years ago, they had a super firm mattess that we slept on. I did not sleep at all, it was so uncomfortable. We've replaced our mattress once when it had a major leak, but other wise, my husband patches the little pin hole leaks (which I think are from our cat!). We also had to replace the heater twice, but I wouldn't trade that bed for anything!

If you do that, it will be real hard to change the sheets. You will constantly be banging up your hands trying to get the sheets down between the side rails. If you can take off the frame and just place the mattress on the platform, you will be much happier with the end result. Also, there are 2 sizes of King mattress. California King is longer, so measure your frame before you buy the mattress to be sure it will fit.

Will regular king bed sheets fit???

Do I add anything to the mattress before I fill it up with water?Or just add water?

what my parents did when i was a kid (im 27) they just added water and that did fine! Also, measure it to see the width and height and write the measurements down on a small piece of paper and go to the store and search. also they had to change it every year. so add an algae rid of or something.

that depends do you mean a regular size matteress or a king size one.
anyway you need to measure them both to see if it will fit .
if it fits then you dont need anything except if the mattress is too low then you might raise it up using two boards on the side inside and some cheap pine to run across just enough to hold it up .
i did this once and i just messured and put it in and there done.

What is the difference?

I now have a REGULAR mattress that is a
california king size.

I have ordered a california
king size WATERBED mattress.

Yes, I have the right type bed, etc.
for a waterbed.

Can I just use my same sheets
or must I order waterbed sheets?

The only thing that I can think of
is that they are sewn together at
the bottom.

Is the size or fit any different?

My best guess--and that's all it is, a guess--is that your existing sheets should be fine. The only potential I see for problems is if the depth of the waterbed is substantially more than your existing regular mattress, so the waterbed requires deep pocket sheets that your old bed doesn't.

(We had that problem replacing an old bed with a new one of the same size--but so much deeper none of our bottom sheets would go on at all.)

You can always stitch them together if you prefer that. It would be easy.
